Based in Cedar Knolls, New Jersey, it is run by Howard Sosna and Joe Kubala who both have a single-minded dedication to developing the highest performance audio cables in the world.
Howard Sosna became interested in stereo equipment at an early age, building speakers and Heathkit electronic components for himself along the way. Joe Kubala has also been involved with audio equipment since college. After graduating with an engineering degree, Joe became more involved with the technical aspects of audio. Along the way they both became convinced of the pivotal role cables play in audio performance.
Having made the decision to put their innovative ideas into production, Joe and Howard began a long process of building cable after cable, using different materials, wire gauges and number of conductors in different combinations and geometries. Each interconnect, speaker cable or power cord was carefully listened to in both systems – one all solid state, the other all tubes. Some changes moved performance in the right direction, others did not.
The result is the OptimiZ Architecture which underpins their cable: cables which are among the best performing in the world today.
Expression cables utilize a different version of the OptimiZ architecture found in K-S’s Emotion series component links. The Expression Series is the equal of many well-respected top-of-the-line cables, possibly bested only by K-S’s own Emotion and Elation ensemble.
During a certain phase of K-S’s development and testing, they knew they had something that challenged the state-of-the-art. Something that would compete with almost anything made.
In a blind test, three different developmental versions of this series were chosen over some of the most expensive and respected cables available; and the final version we brought to market performs better than any of those three!
The Expressions are at component level prices, at least for my system. I know some will squawk, as is their right, but a complete set of Expressions provided for me a component level upgrade.
While I really dislike that power cords, interconnects, and speaker cables are so expensive, in this case they made a large difference. I surrender my prejudice and line of reasoning. If it takes expensive cables to get the sound my system makes with the Expressions, then that’s the price of glory. Highly recommended.
