TIAS2017 Focal

Focal had its Maestro Utopias in an eye-catching blue as part of a red-white-and-blue selection which we can only assume was celebrating the British flag. Any similarity to the French Tricolor can surely only be coincidental.

This was a popular room at the Tokyo International Audio Show, where the Utopias were driven with Luxman electronics from both digital and vinyl sources. Across a range of classical tracks, there was plentiful bass and a rich, smooth sound.

On static display was the Focal Sopro range, including a cut-away showing the massive drivers and crossover.
